Before + Afters: Contemporary Atlanta Abode

Off-white walls, old light fixtures and dark wood furniture made this Atlanta home look kind of cavernous. With a fresh coat of paint and cool, contemporary furnishings, though, the TerraCotta Design Build team brightened the space for the owners and their children.

Dated Living Room With Arched Windows

With arched windows, crown molding and dark hardwood floors, this traditional living room in Atlanta, Ga., has the potential to be something special. All the space needs is a fresh coat of paint and furniture that's elegant yet comfortable for a young family.

Light-Filled Living Room With Red Area Rug

Because this room had such great bones, the designers only needed to paint the walls white to make the space feel fresh and bright. They then layered in a ruby red rug, two armchairs and a tufted ottoman, which create a comfortable sitting area for listening to music.

Traditional Master Bathroom With Stall Shower

The master bathroom has good bones, too, but could perhaps use another sink and more storage. The built-in makeup station is a nice touch, though!

Bold Master Bathroom With Palm Wallpaper

Is this even the same bathroom as before? With matching mirrors, marbled sinks and a double vanity, the space looks brand new and gives the owners all the storage they ever wanted! Palm leaf wallpaper adds energy to the room and inspires thoughts of travel.

Master Bathroom Complete With Walk-In Closet

Because the master bathroom is so spacious, it could really use another light fixture between the tub and walk-in closet. Luckily, that's an easy fix -- one that could be done as quickly as, say, replacing the towel rack.

Master Bathroom Boasts Chic Chandelier, Soaking Tub

Talk about an upgrade! After replacing the tub, TerraCotta Design Build installed a chic chandelier that brightens the space and generates visual interest. The designers also replaced the towel rack with floating shelves to give the owners even more storage.

Neutral Girls Bedroom Needs Functionality

With the bed in the corner and a nightstand right by the door, the layout of this girl's room leaves a lot to be desired. To create a more soothing, sleep-friendly space, the designers need to reposition the furniture and open the floor plan.

Blue, Boho-Style Teen Girls Bedroom

Light blue walls work wonders in this teen girl's room, creating a relaxing atmosphere for reading or doing homework. A palm-print tryptic adds interest to the bed, as well as complements the other boho touches, like the woven throw and ombre ottoman.

Boho-Chic Girls Room Complete With Swing Chair

On the other side of the room, a dresser keeps clothes neat and organized. By pushing the bed to the far wall, the designers were able to open the floor plan and make room for a super cute and comfortable swinging chair.

Dark Red Boys Room Feels Cavernous

While boys' rooms may call for colorful palettes, red walls might be a bit overwhelming for doing homework or sleeping. Because they're so dark, these walls actually absorb all the natural light and make the space feel cavernous.

Contemporary Red & Blue Boys Room

Neutral walls with a red accent make this boy's bedroom feel soothing and stylish. A blue platform bed gives him a comfortable place to land while still keeping in line with the primary color palette.

Industrial Bookshelf Meets Red Chair in Boys' Bedroom

An industrial bookshelf displays some of the teen's favorite items, like baseballs and other sports memorabilia. Meanwhile, a bold red chair offers additional seating and another pop of color.
