Before + Afters: Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

This kitchen had great bones, but the old cabinets and blue island had to go. Blissful Abode Interiors swapped the Spanish tile for a beautiful marble backsplash and then added floating shelves and oak floors for a farmhouse feel. Black barstools complete the setting and create an eat-in counter.

Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Design

The overall vision for this home's spaces was modern farmhouse, so designers chose a beautiful oak hardwood floor to run throughout the main areas of the house. Then, they brought in a lot of white and marble, helping to make the spaces feel timeless and classic. Finally, warmth was added to the home through gold and black accents and wood details that really brought the rustic farmhouse feel to life.

Modern Farmhouse Living Room Addition

This living room space was an addition to the home's original structure, and, as such, had very strange angles that designers wanted to make sense of, so they chose furniture that would help them create an organized normal room shape with a modern farmhouse design that complements the rest of the home's open concept main spaces.

Console Tables in Modern Farmhouse Living Room

On either side of the fireplace, distressed console tables were brought in to add a bit of warm contrast to the white, shiplap walls. On top of each console table, a lamp with an "X" design nods to the design on the kitchen island, while a geometric sculpture adds texture and a modern element. Finally, lovely pieces of neutral artwork give the living room design some height.

Matching Console Tables Add Symmetry to Modern Farmhouse Living Room

To give the room's design a bit of symmetry, designers added identical black, console tables, art, table lamps and geometric sculptures to either side of the fireplace. The table lamps have the rustic "X" design in them that nod to the countertop design in the kitchen.
