Eclectic Living Room Inspired By Palm Springs, Calif.

From the moment they walk through the front door, guests will feel at ease in this colorful and eclectic living room. The space was inspired by the owner's vacation in Palm Springs, Calif., and so features various pieces (and plants!) that nod to that laid-back environment.

Hanging Plants in Light-Filled Living Room Corner

This corner of the living room is perfect for a set of hanging plants, as they can easily soak up the natural light. Two woven chairs sit in front of the window, too, and create a stylish space for catching up with a friend.

Eclectic Living Room Complete With Soft Area Rug

With light streaming in from the windows and plants all along the wall, this soothing white living room feels so serene and natural. Patterned pillows and an area rug complete the space and ensure that it's totally comfortable.

Eclectic Bookcase Layered With Plants

To really evoke thoughts of Palm Springs, Calif., designer Michelle Gage layered the living room with hanging plants, vines and various types of cacti. These decorate the bookshelf, too, which proudly displays a bust of Elvis, a flamingo statue and a record collection.

Bookcase Displays Elvis Bust, Flamingo and Records

From the pretty pottery on top all the way down to the record collection, this bookcase looks colorful and carefully curated. Our favorite part? The letter board, flamingo and palm trees, which bring a small taste of Palm Springs to this home in New Jersey.

White-Painted Fireplace Decorated With Colorful Planters

The living room was actually a collaboration between the homeowner and designer, who met on social media. To create the space, designer Michelle Gage sent styling instructions based on the home's floor plan, and the owner added her own small touches, like the DIY-painted planters on the mantel.

Fireplace Includes Photograph of Cabazon Dinosaurs

The Cabazon Dinosaurs are an iconic roadside attraction in Palm Springs, Calif., so naturally designer Michelle Gage wanted to include them in the living room. Thus, she blew up a photo that the homeowner snapped while on vacation, framed it and hung it over the fireplace for visual interest.

Midcentury Sideboard Meets Antique Painting

To the left of the fireplace, a midcentury sideboard keeps other entertaining essentials on-hand. Designer Michelle Gage complemented the style of the piece with an antique painting of a Southwestern landscape and a bright blue lamp.

Blush Pink Sofa Complements Floral Wallpaper

The owner's living room just wouldn't be complete without this cutie! Notice, too, how the blush pink sofa brings out the pink flowers in the wallpaper.

Floral Wallpaper Adds Tropical Touch to Living Room

Behind the bar cart, floral wallpaper makes a serious statement. When layered with a boho mirror, matching chair and pineapple throw pillow, this corner of the living room feels oh-so-tropical.

Lucite-and-Brass Bar Cart for Easy Entertaining

Because the homeowner is cocktail consultant, designer Michelle Gage wanted to give her a "kick-butt work station." This lucite-and-brass bar cart certainly gets the job done, with gold shakers and disco ball sipper cups that are perfect for the owner's next GNI.
