Just In: Photos From Mina Starsiak’s Gorgeous Summer Wedding
The Good Bones star's dress will make you do a double-take. Plus, guess which Good Bones co-star and relative officiated.
Earlier this summer, we saw a few sneak peeks of Good Bones star Mina Starsiak’s big Indianapolis nuptials with fiance-now-husband Stephen Hawk. Now, Mina (Starsiak Hawk, officially!) is sharing even more footage from the June 11 party-slash-wedding, and you’re probably going to want to pin everything about it to your Dream Wedding Pinterest board.

Mina called herself a “laid-back” bride who wasn’t too nervous about much of the ceremony or reception, even entrusting a few friends to help with little details, like her shoes.
“They went to T.J. Maxx the day before the wedding and they came back with three pairs of shoes, all under $30,” Mina said.
Wedding prep the morning of went off without a hitch, with Mina wearing a mermaid-style Romona Keveza dress with a swept-back updo and veil.
“It was such a cool dress!” Mina said.

When it came time to decide who Mina and Stephen wanted to have officiate their wedding, the right choice seemed pretty obvious: Mina’s mom and Good Bones co-star, Karen, who, as a lawyer, has already officiated many weddings and is a licensed minister.
“She loves doing it, and it was way more meaningful than some random person doing it,” Mina said. “Plus, everything that I do has a budgetary aspect, and she was free-ninety-nine. She did really well.”
At the altar, Stephen, who Mina says is a “big softie,” asked Karen in advance for some assistance in reading his promises — the couple’s alternative to traditional vows — to Mina after he felt his nerves start to kick in.
“She told me when Stephen was waiting up at the front, he was like, ‘I don’t know if I am going to be able to do this. If I can’t do them, will you?’” Mina said. “She’s like, well, no, you’ll be able to do them.”
Spoiler alert: He did.

Mina’s one exception to her lack of nervousness about the day came during the couple’s first dance, which they had practiced for more than 10 weeks in ballroom dancing classes together.
“They were so fun but also hard,” she said. “I took ballroom dancing at IU, and I like to think I’m a good dancer but that’s not the case.”
Before hitting the dance floor, Mina and Stephen went to the side of the building to practice a particularly difficult spin in their routine and ended up with a small wardrobe malfunction.
“My hand slipped out of his, and I busted his button on his suit jacket,” she said.
The real first dance went much better, with no safety pins required afterward.

Did we mention there were donuts — 400 of them? Mina isn’t a fan of cake, so the reception was stocked with Long’s Donuts instead.

Food options were also plentiful, with Chicago-style hot dogs, tacos and mini sliders on the menu for guests to tap into throughout the night.
“We wanted the whole wedding to be a party,” Mina said.

With Mina and Karen in the middle of filming the next season of Good Bones, the newlyweds had a mini-moon in Charleston, S.C. that weekend before a big family vacation there the following week. They’ll finally get their official honeymoon when they head to Cabo in February.
