What's Your Lottery Dream Home? 12 Places We'll Be Moving With Our Winnings

With the Powerball jackpot hitting a record-breaking $1.5 billion this week, ticketholders are at a fever pitch ahead of tonight's drawing. Sure, each set of numbers only offers a one in 292.2 million chance of winning, but a little dreaming never hurt, right?

After all, people just like us win big a few times every year. Most winners' first order of business? Upgrading their living arrangements. That's the idea behind HGTV's new series My Lottery Dream Home, in which David Bromstad guides fresh winners on the hunt for new (more luxurious) digs, from modern mountain estates to beachfront getaways.

That got our blog team thinking: Where would we move if we won big? Our bloggers share their most-desired real estate destinations.
Virgin Islands Getaway
"You'd find me here for eternity if we won the Powerball," Mallory says. This massive estate, located on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, has it all: A gigantic loggia, an infinity pool and breathtaking mountain views for every angle.

Or Maybe An Entire Island?
Like Mallory, I long for a tropical breeze and endless snorkeling, but if I'm going to be a multimillionare, why not live like one? That's why my post-lottery wishlist includes a private island. This 150-acre estate on Musha Cay along the Exuma Islands, Bahamas already belongs to magician David Copperfield — maybe the one next door is available?

No Shoes? No Problem
Jackie isn't sure where the life of luxury will lead her, but she has one requirement: "Some place where I never have to wear socks," she says. This beach on East Beddara Island in Australia fits the bill.

Greenwich Village Townhouse
"My lottery dream home would be a historic single-family townhouse in New York's Greenwich Village with a deep backyard garden big enough for a few trees and another garden on the roof (featuring a lap pool and an edible garden, of course) for which I would undoubtedly spend the remainder of my winnings paying property taxes," Felicia says. High property taxes aside, it's hard not to fall in love with this rooftop view:

Daniel Levin
Modernist Masterpiece
"I'll take the Siva House, please! I’m not looking for more space, just more time to enjoy the amazing landscapes America offers," Kelly says. "First off would be Southern California, and no town epitomizes that modern aesthetic more than Palm Springs. Siva House is small but has a big view of the vast desert, both from inside the mostly-glass walls and from the dreamy infinity pool."

Artsy Retreat in the Heart of Paris
"I’d buy an appartement in Paris’ 6th arrondissement," Deanne says. "The Latin Quarter is my favorite neighborhood in the world. There’s so much creative energy from the universities plus some of the best cafes and antique shops in the city. If I didn’t go too crazy on square footage, I could save enough and spend my days sitting in the Luxembourg Gardens reading and making water color sketches of the sail boats drifting across the basin. I love the winding stairs, parquet flooring and wrought iron railings in this triplex."

Oceanfront in the Hamptons
"I grew up in The Hamptons, the ritzy group of villages and hamlets on the South Fork of Long Island, New York," Shannon says. "While living there is a little (okay, a lot) out of my price range these days, I wouldn’t be able to resist a gorgeous Hamptons home if I won the Powerball jackpot. It would have to have a killer oceanfront location, a weathered shingle exterior and casually elegant, subtly coastal interiors. It’s been a long time since I’ve lived there, but these things still remind me of home."

Location, Location, Location
"For me, it’s ALL about location. First, I’d buy a flat in London (Greenwich) that I could go to anytime the shopping bug hit," Kayla says. This balcony in the Belgravia neighborhood of West London is the perfect spot for post-shopping tea and biscuits.

Next on Kayla's list: "I’d buy a Mediterranean villa in Positano, Italy right on the Amalfi Coast. My dream property would have open-air living areas, a swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen and a garden. It has 5 bedrooms, so our friends are totally coming with!"

Real Estate Tycoon
"Do I have to pick? If I won that much money, I’d probably opt for an NYC apartment in the Village, a Presidio Heights mansion in San Francisco and a ski condo in Vail, Colorado," Beth says. "Hmmm, I think I’d spend spring and fall in the Big Apple, summer in the city by the Bay and winter on my skis or cozy by the fire." *Fingers crossed!*
