These Lake Houses Are Giving Us FOMO

Mom, can you send us off to camp, please?

No matter who you are or where you live, it’s hard not to start dreaming about lazy lake days when the summer months roll in. We’ve searched high and low on Instagram for all of our favorite lake house trends to get you inspired for your own place…even if it’s still in your dreams.

You don’t need a giant lake house; cozy cabins make great lake homes, too. This lake house has a fun summer camp feel but the wrap-around porch means you have views of all the surrounding scenery.

Super high ceilings not only look fab, but it means your lake house will have way more space to capture all of the lake views around you. This great room creates an open space for gathering with everyone in one spot.

In the summer, most of your time will be spent outdoors, so you may as well have lots of space to do it in. Take advantage of the gorgeous views by creating lots of outdoor hangout space so you can soak up the views.

This lake house is proof that you can go sleek and modern with black paint. The owners use a bright orange door to offset the deep color of the exterior.

Being on the lake means that you can also build your very own dock to house your family’s favorite water gear. Or if you have a boat, you can build a dock large enough to keep your own boat for quick easy access.

This beautiful covered porch has a log cabin feel to it. And it’s situated so you get a perfect view of the lake.

If you have enough space, consider creating a large outdoor living room for you and your family at your lake house. Here, they have a seating area, a dining space and a full outdoor kitchen.

A grand entrance is a great way to set the stage for what’s inside. For a larger home, it really can make a statement.

Traditional lake houses are already incredibly popular, but modern lake houses are also becoming trendier. Walls of glass windows, metal details and sleek light fixtures are showcased on this modern lake home.

Even though you won’t necessarily be lighting it up during the summer, a beautiful focal point fireplace is a great addition to a lake house living room. This will keep you warm during the cooler months and will be a great centerpiece in your living room.

In any lake house backyard, you can easily create a charming space for you and your family to hang out and enjoy the gorgeous view. Some simple Adirondack chairs and a side table are all you need to pull your outdoor space together.
