HGTV Happy Hour: Boozy Berry Patch Lemonade
Summer's here and the entertaining's easy! Or, it will be when you whip up a big batch of this summery sip. Fresh, ripe berries + whiskey + tart lemonade = a not-too-sweet cocktail that's sure to please a crowd.

Let's be honest: Parties are great, but sometimes being the host isn't much fun — especially when you're stuck playing bartender for all your guests. But a little pre-party prep can solve this dilemma: Just mix up a signature sip as a big batch so guests can help themselves while you mix, mingle and join in the festivities.

This recipe calls for 'macerating' or getting the berries boozy by allowing them to soak in whiskey and sugar overnight. Macerating pulls the juice out of the fresh berries to create an intensely flavored, whiskey-infused syrup that's not only spectacular in a cocktail, macerated fruit is also a delicious, boozy topping to ice cream or hot-from-the-oven biscuits or poundcake.

Serve your big-batch cocktail in a large pitcher, dispenser or punch bowl — or get creative and put an old apothecary jar to work, as I have here.

And, when party fare is self-serve, labels are the ideal way to let guests know what's on the menu. Here, baker's twine and a large paper gift tag add the perfect finishing touch to my favorite summer sip. Need a little help with your handwriting?
