Bridal Designer Sets Up Shop in West Hollywood Castle

Imagine strolling into work everyday in a castle-like building with history at every turn. Los Angeles-based bridal designer Claire Pettibone recently moved her flagship salon and atelier to a historic West Hollywood monument that’s a perfect location for her vintage-inspired bridal brand. After some TLC and restorations, the space truly echoes a romantic design aesthetic.

What makes this location so special to Claire? “I have always loved this building since living in LA, and when it became available, I felt it was meant to be, given my devotion to history and appreciation for this period, but I am still pinching myself that we have moved into a castle!” she says. “It really is a dream come true, and the details of the building could not set a more perfect stage for our brides to experience the collection.

The Romanesque and Late Gothic Revival-style monument was built in 1928 for muralist Anthony Heinsbergen by West Coast architects Curlett and Beelman. Some of the building’s most notable features include the cylindrical tower, a Renaissance-style mural in the stone arch and a hand-painted, wood-beamed ceiling inside.

Step inside Claire’s bridal salon and see how she’s helped restore the building to its former state by incorporating her own design style, inspired by a family of artists and years of antiquing treasures.

In the main showroom, brides and their guests are greeted by Italian stone floors and French Empire antiques. The most stunning feature of the space is the 15-foot-tall mural of an 18th century oil on canvas by Welsh artist Richard Wilson.

Claire says, “I love incorporating Old World details and craft, while contrasting with modern elements.”

Adding to the extravagance and romantic atmosphere of the space, Claire displays mannequins on custom-built illuminated acrylic pedestals with floral arrangements encased within.

On the far end of the showroom, brides can take the arch and gold-leaf mirrored doorway to the extravagant gown gallery filled with Claire’s complete collection of couture wedding gowns, accessories and veils.
