5 Fall Looks That Slayed the #NYFW Runway
And made it straight into our homes, TBH.
New York Fashion Week may have just ended, but we’re already experiencing major withdrawals. The last seven days have been packed with headline-worthy pieces, from Taylor Swift's thigh-high velvet boots to Gigi Hadid's must-see military jacket.
So, what have we learned from all this news? You can never have too many statement pieces in your wardrobe — or your home, for that matter. Here are our favorite fall looks from #NYFW and their interior design doubles to take your home to the next level.
THE NEW NAUTICAL
This year, designer Tommy Hilfiger collaborated with millennial model Gigi Hadid to debut a nautical collection with major attitude. Fringe scarves sailed throughout the show, but it was the bold pairing of blue and white hues with patent leather jackets and boots that really stirred the waters.
WHITE - Often used by designers and architects to capitalize on the availability of a homeâs natural light, white also symbolizes purity. While all-white interiors are often impractical to live with and/or evoke a feeling of sterility, the color truly is the ultimate neutral, offering an endless possibility of color pairings within a space.
To get the same look in your home, match blue and white bedding with patent pillows and black accents. The black-and-blue color combo will add an unexpected edge to your space, while the white will keep the look from being too heavy. See this room by Brian Patrick Flynn for more inspiration.
Speaking of serious attitude, we're obsessed with Marc Jacobs' gothic-glam look. Presented back in February, the designer's fall line features oversized outerwear with crochet collars, satin-ribbon belts and plenty of glitter details — all in black, of course.
'Rough Luxe' Living Room with High-Drama Details
One wall of this contemporary living room wall features wallpaper by Italian manufacturer Yolo, a modern take on old world peeling plaster. Filled with drama and goth details, this Los Angeles home is harmonized by a palette of black, white, gray and metallics. In this "rough luxe" living room, a tufted leather sofa brings an element of modern Baroque to the space, and the pewter coffee table was commissioned by a local fabricator.
In an era of all-white everything, we find this look particularly refreshing. To give your space a similar edge, balance white furniture with saturated-black accents, like this faux-fur area rug from BAM Design Lab.
While plaid appeared in many designers' collections this season, it was Calvin Klein's use of this checkered print that caught our interest. By mixing different plaids, even across the same tunic, the label showed us just how well the pattern complements itself.
Neutral Living Room is Soothing, Eclectic
A mix of patterns in a neutral palette adds visual texture and tactile appeal to this eclectic living room. Gingham curtains dress the windows, while a contemporary sofa is paired with graphic-printed throw pillows. A gold vase adds a metallic note to the space.
Michael J. Lee
Honestly, we can't think of a better place for this look than in the living room. Follow designer Jennifer Glickman's lead and layer checkered curtains in the same place as plaid pillows and tartan throws for a truly cozy, autumn-appropriate look.
If you thought florals were exclusive to spring, guess again. In her fall line, fashion designer Tory Burch used dark collars, trousers and boots to make this spirited print suitable for any season.
Modern Nightstands Complete Look in Bold Guest Room Design
The bold, black and white floral wallpaper was the anchor to this elegant guest room renovation, but designers added subtle, modern nightstands to complete the look.
For your home, prune the bright perennials with a dose of neutrals. In this eclectic guest bedroom by Becki Owens, an elegant gray headboard and white accents tone down the vibrant graphic and let the wallpaper fade to a soft yet stylish background.
Does Tom Ford know how to make a statement or what? Not only did the designer present his anxiously-awaited fall collection in September, while most of his peers were focusing on spring and summer 2017, but he also packed his line with many star-studded pieces. Our favorite? This sequined blouse and skirt combination for maximum sparkle.
Deep Plum, Mauve & Gray Pillows
Deep plum and mauve pillows decorate the bed and add feminine flair to this master bedroom. A small, gray sequined pillow finishes off the look.
House of Jade Interiors
To add similar shimmer to your space, look to jewel-toned accents. We love how the creative minds at House of Jade Interiors brought a touch of glamour to an all-white bed using amethyst throw pillows and a sequined sham.
