San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014

Built in 1908 for attorney Alfred Sutro and his wife Rose for a cost of $21,238, the Classical Revival home serving as the setting for the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 sits on a third of an acre overlooking the Presidio and the San Francisco Bay.

The Entry

The elegant entry to the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 draws you in from the lush outdoor gardens to the graceful glamour of the house inside. Designers Elan Evans and Charlotte Meyn took inspiration from the lines and shapes in the garden and interpreted them in the hand-painted and cut wallpaper and shimmering paint finishes.

Entry Hall

Inspired by fashion icon Kate Moss and singer-songwriter Lorde's hit song "Royals," designer Jonathan Rachman showcases gradiations of monochrome with interwoven splashes of gold, pattern and texture in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 Entry Hall and Main Stairway.

The Powder Room and Lounge

In the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 Powder Room and Lounge, designer Kristi Will interpreted on the timeless glamour of San Francisco decor from the past with a rich and crisp modern touch.

Living Room

Designers Heather Hilliard and Fleur Keyes's concept for the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 living room was designed to complement the natural beauty seen through the generous windows of the space. The furnishings harmonize with the hills beyond the home while providing comfort to the family and friends gathered inside.

The Music Room

An elegant space for a musician or connoisseur, the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 music room, designed by Steve Henry and Michael Booth, is rooted in classic sensibilities but elevated by a touch of confident, modern attitude.

With Good Company: The Dining Room

Original to the dining room, the handpainted wallpaper inspired the exuberant palette in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 With Good Company space. Designers George Brazil and Cecilia Sagrera-Hill paired an eight-sided table with the enchanted garden-like setting to create the perfect place to savor good food, good conversation and good company.

The Kitchen

Rich black, enameled cabinetry with accents of Peruvian walnut are the dramatic cornerstone of the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 kitchen. Designer Steven Miller completed the sophisticated look with brushed and polished metal hardware, white stone counters and geometric glass tiles, and a custom quartz crystal-encrusted ceiling cove crowns the space.

The Butler's Pantry

Geometric glass tiles add extra drama to the black, enamled cabinets in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 butler's pantry, designed by Steven Miller. The space features integrated storage and display to please the home chef.

Family Room

Dramatic views of the surrounding Presidio through oversized windows are juxtaposed against a cosmopolitan study of black and white in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 family room and adjoining kitchen space. Designer Steven Miller selected furnishings that are comfortable, casual and chic.

Deck

The comfortable family room at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 opens onto a well-appointed deck featuring a blend of textures, forms and shades of emerald. A large outdoor table is perfectly suited for dining al fresco, and the heated concrete sofa is a cozy retreat year-round in this private paradise, designed by Steven Miller.

Main Stairway

Designer Jonathan Rachman took a single piece of slivered art and interspersed each element with champagne smoke mirrors for a bold design element leading up the main stairwell at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014.

Library

The San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 library is designed to be a calm respite. Geoffrey De Sousa selected soothing neutrals in linen, suede and silk for the chairs and books in tones of soft oyster and creams. The neutral palette elegantly frames the lush greenery outside.

Once Upon a Time There Was a Bed: Master Bedroom

Designer Antonio Martins wanted to honor his heritage in a modern way with his concept for the San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014 master bedroom. He did so with the juxtaposition of a 17th century family heirloom bed, Portuguese blue and white tile and contemporary artwork.

The Modern Romantic's Lair and The Vestibule

Jane Richardson-Mack and John Romaidis drew from influences from the New Modern Age of the 20th century to create a new, dream-like fantasy for the current modern age in the San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014 Modern Romantic's Lair and The Vestibule. Ombre walls offer an ethereal setting for unfrmaed modern and 24-karat gold Verre Glomis focal points.

Master Bathroom

The San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014 master bathroom , designed by Jaimie Belew, offers an indulgent, spa-like setting for the homeowner to prepare for the day or relax at night. French doors and a Juliet balcony offer private views of the San Francisco Bay, adding to the luxury of the space.

The San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014 master bathroom offers an indulgent, spa-like setting for the homeowner to prepare for the day or relax at night. Designer Jaimie Belew layered textured and contrasting creams, grays and carbon tones with a mixture of metallic and translucent elements.

Woman's Office

Drawing inspiration from the unfolding ocean views, designer Laura Larkin paired a velvety, saturated wall color with cascading crystal baubles and wavy-print drapery in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 woman's office.

Second Floor Landing

Alex Ray, of Five Senses Art Consultancy, was inspired to illustrate a move away from technology back to the basics of communication through an installation of hand-cast bronze letters and ancient symbols in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 second floor landing. Artist Martin Bialas adapted the installation for the space, which explodes on the wall and leads toward the home's library.

Constellation of Color

Stephanie Breitbard curated a colorful installation by local artist Klari Reis to highlight the third floor landing in the San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014. Reis used reflective epoxy polymer to depict microscopic images, which sit at varying degrees from the wall to evoke depth and motion across the space.

Guest Bedroom

The San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014 guest bedroom mixes museum-quality case goods that are perfectly at home in a stately historic room. Designer Melanie Coddington added luxurious designer details, such as nailhead furniture trim, contrast welting, custom bedding and textural fabrics.

Lily's Pad

Designer Tineke Triggs envisioned a young girl named Lily who loves to express herself through art when creating the concept for Lily's Pad in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014. Shades of blue and green create a calm setting, while pops of orange and modern patterns help stimulate her creativity.

The Soaking Lounge

Designer Lisa Bakamis created the dream retreat of every teenage girl in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 soaking lounge. A clawfoot tub is the perfect spot for a post-soccer practice bubble bath. The fun, feminine setting is her own boutique salon, where she can experiment with makeup, hairstyles and fashion.

Little Roamer's Room

The perfect retreat for an imaginative, active little boy, the San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014 Little Roamer's Room features rugged leather, denim, canvas and rope. Designer Regan Baker selected furnature, including a large-scale nomadic tent, that is easily moved and rearranged to further encourage active enjoyment of the room.

The Lounge

Designer Jo Ann Hartley selected a vibrantly colorful rug to anchor the sophisticated third-floor lounge at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014. Orange leather seating punches through the more subtle taupe and gray tones for a fun, sophisticated space.

Little Boy Blu

An upscale retreat for the youngest gentleman of the house, the Little Boy Blu room at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 offers a nostalgic sense of boyish adventure. Designer Shelley Cahan combined classic, tailored elements with vintage-inspired nickel accents and distressed furnishings for a playful, preppy space.

California Palette: An Artist's Home Studio and Observatory

With a nod to the California artists who draw inspiration from the state's rugged beauty, designer Matthew MacCaul Turner created the perfect space to conceive of and create art in the San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014 Artist's Home Studio and Observatory. Sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay and the Presidio greet the artist, and the paint-splattered studio floor is a work of art in its own right.

Dad's Honey Hole

A tucked-away niche in the San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2014, Dad's Honey Hole is designer Sunny K. Merry's nod to the private bar of days gone by. Inspired by a veteran of foreign wars, the room includes wallpaper depicting pin-up girls, an Art Deco-era mirror from Paris and a Japanese puffer fish pendant light.

Third Floor Landing

Art vignettes are seen gazing down the main stairwell at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014, with a quick look at the gilded rug in the entry hall to polish off the view.

Mixologist Quarters: "Try This My Love"

Cocktails and elixirs aren't the only things blended in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 Mixologist Quarters. Designer Reba Jones infused the space with a structured dispensary that stands in sharp contrast to the chaos of the floor design.

The Potting Shed

Paneled walls and worn metal counters enhance the original cabinetry in the Potting Shed at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014. Designer Randy McDannell tied the elements together to create a comfortable, tasteful space for the discerning groundskeeper and his plants, books art and findings.

Fifty Shades of Green

Rather than reinvent the garden at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014, Living Green Design followed the direction of the existing landscaping, enhancing it with updated flora, punches of colorful furniture and whimsical features like the oversized snail sculpture.

Reflect

The garden at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 leads to a final vignette, designed by Kate Webster and Thayer Hopkins to inspire and encourage reflection. A brick path draws the eye toward the abstract, mirrored sculpture that reflects light and shadow.
