Bright and Safe
Bright, textured chairs and a large mural make an energetic hangout space for kids and teens. The modern lounge chairs and sofa table have soft, curved edges. The spiraling hoops on the chandelier are eye-catching and fit with the circular elements in the mural and seating. The room by Jo Rabaut Designs, Southface and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was in a Southeastern Designer Showhouse.
Urban Chic
A fluffy pouf and a chandelier’s round globes are fun-loving features in an urban Atlanta condo designed by Wake + Loom.
Seating with a Swoop
Vintage, curved white leather chairs make for spunky seating in a living room by designer Perry Walter. There's a play of pattern and vibrant hues of turquoise, marine blue, palm green and accents of tangerine. The pouf is made of white Moroccan leather. Furniture with curves or round shapes is a great way to soften the overall design, he says, adding that it also creates a natural traffic pattern.
Chic Seating Options
This dining room is ready for festive fetes. Kay Douglass Interiors used bright and bold Hermes pieces, including a mobile and its signature orange for the custom velvet banquettes in the contemporary space. The gray velvet dining chairs, a faceted cube shape stool and club-style swivel chairs provide more chic seating options. This room was in the 2017 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Home for the Holidays.
Glam Around the Room
A salon designed by BAMO in a luxury Hong Kong villa features grand and whimsical touches, such as white lacquer screens with columns of rings and a scrolling patterned marble floor. Some of the furnishings are in neoclassical style. "We were creating the story about a house that was very much about entertainment," says designer Pamela Babey.
Fringe Flair
Sky blues, seen on the round ottomans with layers of looped fringe, give a relaxing air to this guest house living room. An acrylic cocktail table keeps the space light and airy. Metal sconces and other round accessories contribute to the subtle circular theme. The timeless room was designed by Tristan Harstan, a New York-based designer, for a Southeastern Designer Showhouse in Atlanta.
Round and Regal
Lacquered walls and a blue ceiling set a stunning scene in an elegant dining room by interior designer Suzanne Kasler. The dining table and chairs are from her own collection for Hickory Chair, while the chandelier is regal with its crystal tassels. Instead of the traditional tablescape, she used plaster geometric forms purchased at a Paris flea market. The room was in a Southeastern Designer Showhouse in Atlanta.
Spiral Twist
Still sleek, the circular rings of this gold pendant chandelier give this lakefront living room the feeling that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The modern makeover by Handcrafted Homes, based in metro Atlanta, included a new fireplace with a custom cantilevered marble hearth.
Ready to Play
This sophisticated pingpong table is fit for adult play in a modern game room by Ginger Brewton, a Charleston, S.C., designer. No beanbags here. Instead, the seating includes mod Klismos chairs with curved backs. The room was in a Southeastern Designer Showhouse in Atlanta.
Cockatoo Cool
Shades of marine blue and turquoise are mixed with geometric patterns in an Alabama living room with mid-century touches. Atlanta designer Perry Walter brought in round objects, like the side table, and animal accessories, like the turquoise cockatoo statue. "It creates interest, a topic of conversation and a sense of whimsy," says Walter of Walter Studio Interior Design.
