Color Therapy

Former Manhattanite and now Charleston-based jewelry designer Janet Gregg is a vivacious, engaging, witty woman-about-town whose beautiful home perfectly encapsulates her personal style: bold, colorful and globe trotting-meets-preppy. Her living room features an array of colorful artwork displayed salon style, much of it purchased on trips abroad.

The Power of a Porch

Gregg's design eye: blending traditional with quirky, imaginative touches, is on full view on an upstairs porch off of her master bedroom. The porch boasts a classic haint blue porch ceiling and burlap tablecloth but a quirky collection of vases to bring contemporary energy to her look. Gregg likes vinyl on outside furniture to stay clean and fresh.

A Well-Laid Plan

An open plan kitchen and dining room has great flow for Gregg's frequent cocktail parties and dinners. Displayed on the kitchen island is one of Gregg's seashell busts. The bookshelves in the distance feature a charming display of favorite thank you notes: the ultimate preppy design moment.

Edgy Entry

On the ground floor entry to Janet Gregg's home the designer has created a striking collage of her own artwork. The bold pinks and blues and idiosyncratic mix of pattern and color immediately establish the unique style that defines the whole home.

In the Pink

Though it may not look like it, Gregg's home is a DIY paradise filled with the designer's beautiful needlepoint and craft projects like this impact-making chandelier she made for her hot pink guest bathroom.

Curated Tablescape

Gregg is a master of the well-crafted tablescape and the art of layering, as with this chic desk ornamented with glass and china bibelots and more of her striking art collection.

Big City Chic

No one would blame you if you mistook this Charleston home for a chic pied-à-terre in Paris or New York. Owner Janet Gregg is a world-traveler with a sophisticated design eye. She has transformed every nook and cranny of her stylish Charleston, South Carolina apartment into a feast for the eye like this hallway lined with art. Two chairs provide a pop of color and place to perch during one of Gregg's frequent cocktail parties.

Seascape Palette

This restful, elegant coastal porch takes its inspired color palette from driftwood and sun-bleached seashells.

Rich in Porches

Charleston is a city famous for its gracious porches and Gregg has two, in addition to a lovely first floor covered patio at her home's entrance. This one features more practical vinyl upholstery and plenty of rattan and wood for a casual, coastal vibe.

The New Neutral

Gregg uses pink to sophisticated ends in her home, transforming vivid carnations and hot pinks into a neutral when paired with her vibrant art. This guest room balances out that assertive wall color with pretty cream bed linens and furnishings and neutral sisal carpeting.

Bold Color Abounds

A rich teal defines this sitting room on the third level of Gregg's home. Clever juxtapositions like the more casual rattan furniture paired with antiques define the engaging, eclectic mix in this Charleston home.

Nude and Nudes

It's hard to think of a more peaceful, classic look than this sumptuous master bedroom. A quirky selection of female nudes demonstrates the design merits of a unique collection, beautifully displayed. A supremely clever and resourceful hostess, Gregg has been known to even put a bar and bartender in her bedroom for big parties.
