I was a nervous wreck over this cover shoot — not because we traveled to unfamiliar Canada for it, or because the sofa almost didn’t get delivered to the set or even because it’s the first time we’ve put not one but two HGTV stars front and center on our cover. No, I was sweating bullets because I wasn’t sure if Drew would jump.

Why did I want him to spring into the air and hurl himself over a sofa for a few shots? If you know anything about Drew and Jonathan Scott, you know these home renovation superheroes have several HGTV shows and many talents — Property Brothers, Brother Vs. Brother, magician skills (Jonathan) and a crazy-high vertical leap (Drew), to name a few. I thought Drew vaulting over a sofa that his twin brother was sitting on would bring fun energy to the moment. But, at the time, Drew had a good reason to stay safely on the ground: He had just made it to the semifinals on Dancing With the Stars, and America needed him injury-free!

But I worried for nothing. Drew loved the challenge. He jumped — super high! (In fact, he nailed it on the first try.) He and Jonathan also whacked each other with throw pillows, posed upside down, and encouraged me to photobomb. They upped the fun, which is what the Brothers do every time they transform a home — about 40 each year! Even when they’re powering through the biggest reno of their careers (see a sneak peek below) — overseeing a major construction site and 1,001 design details — they make us laugh. They take the job seriously, but they don’t take themselves too seriously. I kick up my heels to that.

Take an inside look at the Scott Brothers' biggest reno yet and pick up the March 2018 issue of HGTV Magazine for more:

First comes love, then comes…a gut renovation! Here's a peek inside Drew, Linda and Jonathan's overhaul of a historic L.A. house.

Kitchen: A tiny cook space tucked away in the back of the house was far from the couple’s dream. “One of the first things we decided was to move the kitchen closer to the living room and expand it so it could truly be the hub of our home,” says Drew. He and Linda chose all the cabinet hardware, the faucets and the Corrigan Studio pendants. “They knew exactly what they wanted,” says Jonathan. “Literally every inspiration photo they showed me had brass!”

Living room: A Linda-and-Drew style infusion resuscitated the once lifeless space. They painted the beige walls a pretty light gray and put in oak floors in a herringbone pattern. Velvet furniture, including kelly green armchairs by Mercer41, bring in color, and brass legs tie everything together.
