What You'll Need:

  • brown paper bag/butcher paper
  • iron
  • water
  • dish soap
  • isopropyl alcohol
  • spray bottle
  • light-colored towel or rag

Step 1: Place Butcher Paper + Iron

Plug in the iron, and heat it to the highest setting (cotton/linen). Place the butcher paper or brown paper bag over the wax stain. Then, place the iron on top of the butcher paper, pressing down into the carpet. You will immediately see the iron melting the wax and the paper absorbing it.

Step 2: Continue the Process

Hold the iron down over the wax stain. The hot iron will continue to melt the wax and the paper will continue to absorb it. It may take a few passes with a clean piece of brown paper to melt and absorb all of the wax. Be careful not to touch the iron to the carpet.

Step 3: Spray With Solution

It's possible the wax stain has left some grease on the carpet. Mix 1 cup water, 1/2 teaspoon dish soap and 2 tablespoons isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. Spray the area liberally, and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a clean towel to blot the area dry and absorb any residual stain. Repeat this process until the stain is completely gone.
