Front Entrance
Set back 250 feet from the road, the French chateau-style home provides a level of privacy and security fit for a legend.
Foyer
The building of this home reportedly took a year to plan and two more to build to Rice's famously exacting standards.
Living Room
The family tended to congregate in less formal rooms, but this living room has its own elegant charm.
Dining Room
Rice appeared on the Rachael Ray show, where he made Philly Cheesesteak Crostini. This is probably not where he ate it.
Family Room
The family room has a full bar, which really takes the edge off of family time. It also housed some $2 million of electronic equipment, including several TVs so they could watch all the Sunday games simultaneously.
Breakfast Nook
The house is also equipped with "smart home" capabilities: The security system and various appliances can be controlled remotely, from a phone (so please, don't butt-dial the oven).
Home Theater
The home theater feels like a mini Radio City, with art deco touches and plush seats. Andy Chen of Pacific Audio/Visual built a 10,000-watt audio/video system wired so that you can actually feel the sound in the seats. Supersonic!
Library
The mahogany used in the library's paneling is so rare, it wouldn't be available if the house were built today.
Gift-Wrapping Room
You could use this room for crafts, too, but just the thought of the Rice family gathering here before the holidays for a massive Santa party warms the heart.
Gym
When he was in the pros, Rice was known for working out so hard, his coaches would have to ask him to take a day off to rest. So you know he set up a killer workout room — with reportedly $500,000 worth of equipment.
Outdoor Dining Room
Rice envisioned a home where the family could gather, yet still have plenty of nooks and crannies for time alone.
Pool
The pool has a private guesthouse with its own kitchenette; there's also a spa, a sauna and a steam room. And outdoor warming lamps, because this is NorCal.
Yard
Even in Atherton, considered the Beverly Hills of the Bay Area, Rice's estate stands out as a stunner. The buyer got a heck of a steal.
Garages
A seven-car garage isn't so much when you consider there were five people living here.
