Dining Room

If you're someone who appreciates homes with ingenious, space-saving features, we highly encourage you to check out Colin Cowie's Flatiron penthouse. The wedding guru/event planner/interior designer purchased the top two floors of The Emory building in 2007, pre-construction. He then created a 3,000-square-foot duplex filled with thoughtful customizations, from an expandable kitchen countertop to lots of hidden storage to an informal dining room that converts into a formal dining room. In this configuration, the dining room opens out into the kitchen. To create a more intimate, formal atmosphere, slide out the mirrored pocket doors to create a fourth wall.

Living Room

Hydraulic storage units are built into the wall around the fireplace, including a hidden bar. You'll find built-in storage throughout the duplex.

Kitchen

The sleek kitchen includes a built-in fridge, freezer and dumb waiter, which transports food to the rooftop terrace. The island contains a slide-out component to increase countertop real estate.

Master Bedroom

By day, enjoy a view of the Empire State Building. By night, play with the various mood lighting options.

Master Bathroom

The shower offers around 10 different showerheads, as well as LED lighting and audio. Take a bath with a view, thanks to the full-size window. (You can roll down a shade for privacy.)

Walk-in Closet

The walk-in closet in the master bedroom is a dream for any clothes horse, with plenty of racks and drawers for clothes and accessories.

Home Office

The office may also be used as a second bedroom.

Rooftop Terrace

The 900-square-foot terrace offers views of the city's most notable skyline icons, from the Chrysler Building to Flatiron's water towers. Cowie uses the terrace for everything from barbecues to yoga sessions.
