Luke's Diner Day + 5 'Gilmore Girls' Gifts Every Fan Needs
It's the 16th anniversary of Gilmore Girls, and we're here to party.
As my alarm went off at 5 am, I had the fleeting thought, “Is it worth it?” The answer was, of course, “YES!” It’s not every day your local coffee shop transforms into Gilmore Girls’ iconic Luke’s Diner, and I was not about to miss out on free coffee, a bit of nostalgia and the chance to stand in line with like-minded fans who are just as excited for the upcoming Netflix revival as I am. And I was pleased to discover that my fellow editors from Knoxville, Atlanta and NYC got in on the action, too!
All day, we’ve been following along on Instagram (#lukesdiner) to see what went down across the country, and GG fans did not disappoint! Let’s recap the day, shall we?
The lines were real. Too real.
But once you finally caught a glimpse of that big, yellow sign, you knew you were home.
And you might have even caught a glance of Luke himself! Beverly Hills has all the luck.
But this cardboard cutout’s not bad either, and it definitely captures Luke's very specific...charm.
Just don’t let him catch you on your cell phone. But once you're in the clear, be sure to see more from HGTV and Food Network on Snapchat! (Search for usernames hgtv and foodnetwork to find us.)
Basically, it was a great day to be a Gilmore Girls fan. But don't feel too sad if you missed out on the coffee craziness. You can always get your Luke's Diner fix with a little retail therapy, amiright? Here are a few of our favorites:
Bonus: If you're throwing a Gilmore Girls viewing party this November, you NEED this Luke's Diner piñata. Non-negotiable.
Until then, copper boom, people.
