Trending Now: Pattern Play at High Point Furniture Market
Love pattern? So do we! Learn which patterns the design world is loving now.
Twice yearly, in the spring and fall, HGTV.com editors visit High Point Market to get a sneak peek of coming furniture, accessory, lighting and fabric trends long before they make it to stores. One of my favorite trendspotting categories is color’s playful partner — pattern.
Like past Markets, a variety of patterns were popping up in showrooms big and small. From traditional takes, like this timeless plaid at Thibaut:
To global-inspired, block-printed fabrics at Imagine Home:
And fun florals at Eastern Accents, pattern has definitely come out to play:
The graphic, retro-inspired patterns that have dominated previous Markets were visible but no longer the new kids on the block. Instead, subtle, organic patterns that showcase each material's natural beauty have the design world taking notice. I mean, how cool is this tabletop at E. M. Soberon featuring a live-edge wood slice embedded in black, veined resin?:
If there's one axiom that designers and manufacturers are taking to heart, it's "more is more." Whether it's layering rugs in similar patterns at Imagine Home:
Or applying nail-head trim in swirling scallops at Woodland Furniture:
Be on the lookout for these playful new takes on pattern that will be winging their way soon to a furniture showroom near you.
