Spring!
Chile: In the Footsteps of the Explorers
Episode HSPR-103
David Tarrant begins his quest in the lively coastal city of Valdivia. Beginning at the Botanical Garden he discovers the Chilean bellflower and a variety of native flora he's never seen before. Travelling backward through the seasons, he leaves summer on the beautiful west coast and heads into majestic Conguillo National Park, home of the monkey puzzle forests. Winding his way southward and upward (the direction of spring), he passes through Mapuche Indian territory and finally heads into the home of the condor--the Andes Mountains. Following in the footsteps of Harold F. Comber, the renowned plant collector, David hikes up from Pucon in search of the true Andes Mountain spring.
