The home's flamboyant yellow color and bubbling fountains daringly reflected the exotic spirit of the tropics.
In the 1930s, Miami exalted in a new, exciting design movement from Paris called Art Deco. Two adventurers, Charles and Pauline Baker, built a home that reflected their love of travel, modernism, and the exotic in the sophisticated Art Deco style.

The home features iron work of tropical foliage on the stairs, a cylindrical fish tank at the stairs landing, a dinning room that resembles a sea vessel and a loggia with moon gates. The Baker's dream house reflected their love of travel, modernism, and Miami's embrace of the Art Deco style.
