Despite its good qualities, however, the home is dirty, ugly and is going to be a heaping handful of a job. This eyesore has three colors of brown paint coating the outside and is a confusing labyrinth on the inside. Cameron and Jessie Bell currently live in a 690 square foot house and love the cozy charm of small-scale living. While they're not necessarily looking for a larger space, they do want a place to call their own; and they need Chip and Joanna's help. They're looking for the character of an older home, and aren't afraid to brave the filth and grime that comes with years of disrepair. The first house they visit is nicknamed "The Duplex House." Formerly a duplex, as the name suggests, it has a more closed off and quirky layout that will need some opening up. "The Transition House" is next, with highlighter-green paint on the exterior and an overall ravaged appearance on the inside. Last, they visit "The Shotgun House." This house is also abandoned, falling apart, and is the smallest of the three. Because it is a shotgun house, all the rooms are conjoined, making for very little privacy in the bedroom.
