This is one of the largest kitchens Nicole has ever tackled, and it's her grandparents' kitchen. Built in 1956, the kitchen itself has been around for over half a century, but was unfortunately redone in the 90's, eliminating it's mid-century modern charm. Nicole wants to restore the ugly kitchen to how it looked when she was a child. New hardwood floors replace linoleum and Nicole designs custom, vintage-inspired cabinets to provide a nostalgic feel to the treasured room. Right down to a salvaged green phone, the kitchen begins to be reborn as it was in Nicole's childhood memories.

For Nicole's next project, it's gonna be sink or swim! The indoor pool that Nicole's grandfather built by hand is getting a much-needed refresher. First up, the safety and mechanical systems of the pool need to be overhauled to meet modern standards. The beautiful cedar ceiling and aquamarine walls are original so there is no way Nicole will change those, they just need a good wash and some new paint. In the biggest design challenge of the entire project, Nicole boldly replaces the original doors, which had been ruined with age, with giant glass garage doors to let in light and views of the surrounding countryside.

Chip and Joanna Gaines take clients Kimberly and Blake Batson on a tour through three houses in Waco, Texas. The young newlyweds run the 'Common Grounds' coffee shop and are looking for a home close to their business. Kimberly wants trees, land and a huge yard away from busy streets. Their demands are few but their budget is tight at $120,000. Their only requirement is to have a short commute and enough room in their new home to install two cherished custom windows. Will they choose the charming craftsman? Or 'The Movie Theater House' that Chip describes as a cross between a cinema and a funeral parlor? Or the secluded 'Little House on the Prairie' with a creek in the backyard? Whichever they pick, it's a sure bet that Chip will continue to bug Joanna with his crazy antics.

After living in New York for years, 37-year-old bachelor David Ridley is returning to his roots in Waco, Texas. His all-in budget is $272,000 and he wants to stay close to the Mountainview area because of its proximity to Lake Waco. Chip and Joanna are excited for the challenge of finding a home for the man they consider to be Waco's 'most eligible bachelor.' They take David on a tour of three spacious lakeside houses. The Red Roof House is the first house they visit, and David is taken aback by its funky and odd 1960s style. Their next stop Chip dubs the Bachelor Pad. The inside is wide open with high ceilings, perfect for hosting. The backyard is smaller than David was hoping for, but the inside of the house holds so much potential, he really has to weigh his options. The Peach House is last, clearly outdated and in need of some work.

The first house they visit, Chip names the 'Beanstalk Bungalow' after the large seedpods that dangle from the catalpa tree in front of the house. Next, they tour the 'Doll House.' Ken and Kelly Downs are a recently wed couple looking for a home they can both call their own. They've outgrown Ken's small bachelor pad and hope to find a place that reflects both of their individual styles. With a budget of $250,000 in Waco, Texas, they are looking for a home with wood floors, an open kitchen, and his and hers office space. The first house they visit is the "Chalk Ranch House," named after the large chalkboard wall in one of the bedrooms. Kelly isn't a fan of the brick exterior, but she agrees that a little paint would be a great improvement. The second house, the "Cutie Tudor," is quaint and only needs relatively few updates. It already has a layout convenient for a large master suite, but the biggest project would be renovating the kitchen. The last house is a wild card that Chip throws into the mix. He calls it the "Three Little Pigs House" because it seems so old and weathered, a stiff wind could blow it down like the wolf in the children's folk tale.

With two kids under the age of ten, Jaime and Kyle Ferguson are drawn to the good schools and spacious lots in the area of McGregor, Texas. They are looking for a house with four bedrooms, an open kitchen, and lots of trees, and hope that Chip and Joanna can help them find the perfect fit. Their budget of $450,000 allows them a lot of flexibility for renovations, so Chip and Joanna take them on a tour of three houses in the area that couldn't be more different. The first stop on their tour is a large ranch-style home Chip calls the 'House in the Woods.' The next house feels like a step backward in time. Nicknamed the 'Wild West House,' it is a unique Victorian-style house said to be owned by a banker in the late 1800s. The last house they visit is a large, modern-style ranch nicknamed the 'Cliff House.'
