The shoddy work and bizarre tastes of the previous owner make everyday cooking and living nearly impossible. The centerpiece of the kitchen is a gigantic, metallic island with rivets which Jeremy has nicknamed "The Battleship." After demolishing it, Luis spends the weekend with Jess and Jeremy reconfiguring the kitchen layout and flow, installing new granite countertops and a modern backsplash and transforming this space into a sleek and functional kitchen.
