Modern Necessities

After successfully finding a home with ample space for three kids, the Property Brothers are on a mission to transform the old house into a modern gem. But will they be able to meet this design-savvy family's high expectations?

Living Room, Before

This older home packed a lot of potential. But the dated living room with nightmarish fluorescent lights wasn't exactly an ideal starting point.

Living Room, After

After Jonathan and Drew stepped on the scene, the living room was completely transformed into a bright, modern space.

Living Room, Before

One major eye-sore in the old home was this massive stone fireplace. But the large windows and built-ins on either side certainly boasted some design potential.

Living Room, After

In the renovated space, the fireplace no longer takes over the room. The sleek gray design is offset by crisp white walls, a light aqua rug, industrial accessories and modern, vibrant seating options.

Functional Fireplace

This new monochromatic, slate fireplace adds a sophisticated anchor in the living room. Despite it's darker color, it blends seamlessly into the decor, rather than distracts.

Dazzling Display

The Property Brothers also took advantage of the existing built-ins, by giving them a fresh coat of white paint and filling the shelves with curated accessories and books.

Industrial Chic

One major design focus in this living space is balance. Industrial pieces like this chrome coffee table are paired with simple, modern accessories, such as this ceramic serving dish topped with a delicate potted orchid.

Beautifully Balanced

Another example of industrial and classic modern: This rich, dark wood side table is contrasted by an industrial lamp.

Sitting Pretty

This extra seating area incorporates two midcentury modern chairs. They're topped with mis-matched blue throw pillows, one that mimics the royal blue of the couch, while the other picks up on tones from the aqua area rug.

Grapes of ... Design

Renovating a home is hard work! Jonathan and Drew stop for a snack in between the living and dining room.

Dining Area, After

The open design of this renovated living space includes a chic yet charming eating area, decked out with a geometric rug and modern wall planters.

Cohesive Design

These industrial metal chairs are paired with a sleek white table, which picks up on the same color combos found in the living room. The modern area rug pulls in the rich blues and grays of the living space, as well.

Kids Will Be Kids

Jonathan certainly wasn't going to forget about the homeowner's adorable children. Just past the eating area, there's a kid-friendly table, decked out with toys and even a new stuffed animal friend!

Master of Design

Drew admires his work crafting a living room and dining room that flow seamlessly together. Next stop: the kitchen!

Where's the Wine?

Conveniently located right next to the dining area, Drew created this built in bar, fully-equipped with a wine fridge and ample storage space.

Kitchen, Before

Before the Property Brothers worked their magic, this kitchen was drab, dark and dated.

Kitchen, After

Thanks to new light fixtures, appliances and a chic island, this kitchen is now fit for a modern family's needs.

Stylish Island

The previous kitchen island created a closed-off feel between the kitchen and dining room. However, this new version with a white marble countertop keeps the space feeling much more open. And the chrome bar chairs not only add a punch of industrial charm but also echo the dining chairs in the next room.

Perfect Place Setting

The elegant place settings on the kitchen island pull in the same aqua and royal blue tones from the living and dining rooms, creating an overall cohesive feel.

Kitchen, Before

Not only was the previous island unappealing and outdated, but it also lacked a lot of function.

Kitchen, After

The new island boasts not only a stylish dining area, but also functional appliances such as this modern sink.

Proud Brothers

Jonathan and Drew proudly pose between the kitchen and living room, admiring how well the spaces seamlessly blend together.

Cohesive Colors

Continuing with the same color scheme carried throughout the home, the Property Brothers paired this light blue tile backsplash with crisp white cabinets and countertops.

Bright and Beautiful

The light wood flooring and baseboard lighting in the kitchen add to the light and airy effect of this home's interior design.

Hidden Laundry Room

Just beyond the kitchen, the Property Brothers even opted to make the tucked-away laundry room ultra-stylish and modern.

Bonus Room, Before

Before, this tiny room was boring, bleak, and lacked any significant purpose.

Bonus Room, After

The Property Brothers took advantage of every last square inch of this extra room, incorporating a washer and dryer unit, refrigerator, storage and even a stylish window seat.

Extra Storage

This tucked-away closet is perfect for storing anything from laundry detergent to toys.

One Happy Family

After the big reveal, it seems safe to say that Dan, Debra and their three adorable children are fans of their chic, modern-meets industrial home. Nicely done, Property Brothers!
