Before their teenaged sons go to college, Tim and Kim want to spend quality time together as a family. So they decided to take the plunge and live a more laidback life in Costa Rica. Tim will be returning stateside to work a few months out of the year, so Kim wants the ease of a turn-key home that she can take care of when it's just her and the boys. But Tim is convinced real savings can be found in a fixer upper. The Jacó property market may be on the up, but in this city of cozy beach and jungle retreats, it's still possible to find great value at affordable prices. Tim and Kim will just have to decide whether to hit the top of their budget with a turnkey or invest an unknown amount in a fixer upper.
