Family Room with Space for All

As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the Jowett family's under utilized basement is transformed into a bright, open concept family room perfect for relaxing, with a separate play area, plenty of storage, pot lights, modern color scheme and Berber carpet.

Fresh Child's Bedroom

As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the second floor child's bedroom remains the same size and location, with the exception of enlarging the small closet, doubling its depth. The walls, floors, furniture and room accessories were all freshly updated.

Basement Family Room with Chalk Paint for Creativity

As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the Jowett family's basement gets a huge redesign. The use of white pickets in the staircase echoes the open feeling; contrasted by black chalk paint, adding a dynamic architectural detail to the room. Black chalk paint is repeated on the doors of the utility closet giving the kids loads of room for creativity.

Open Concept Living Room

As seen on HGV's Love It or List It, this image shows the renovated living room. The arch and columns have been removed, as well as the wall that used to separate the living room and the dining room.

Large Kitchen Island

This kitchen has been reconfigured to take advantage of the new open concept floor plan. A large kitchen island provides more counter space, as well as doubles as a kitchen table with stools running underneath. The sliding door was reduced to a sink under the window, allowing the galley kitchen to run along the whole wall. Stainless steel appliances, pendant and recessed lighting, and a neutral color scheme create a clean modern look to the kitchen. New flooring was added throughout the whole first floor.

Fabulous Modern Living Room

As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the home's open floorplan shows the living room, kitchen and portion of the dining room from the hallway leading to the bedrooms.

Dining Room with Shelving and a Stone Focal Wall

As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the Jowett family's multi-purpose, open concept dining room/kitchen combo lacked a focal point. By moving the stairs to the basement, designer Hilary Farr was able to redefine the dining area and create a focal wall with built in shelving.

Gray Upholstered Headboard

This master bedroom has been renovated with a new cathedral ceiling, contemporary wall colors, updated wardrobe closets, and an upholstered headboard for the queen bed. A new two-piece washroom was added in the space of the old in-wall closets, and new closets were added behind double swing doors. New upgraded windows and window treatments allow plenty of natural light into the room and privacy at night.

Contemporary Country Neutral Living Room

As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the new kitchen is located where the old, small living room previously was. The walls on the first floor have been removed, creating an open modern floor plan with views to both the living room and dining area. Updated kitchen cabinetry, new appliances, a decorative tile backsplash and the elongated central island make the new kitchen the center of life on the first floor. Finally, new window treatments, colorful pillows and updated recessed and pendant lighting give a modern and fun vibe throughout.

Contemporary, Neutral Home Office Nook

The space that was once a small bedroom made a perfect home office nook. Some much-needed storage cabinets and a stairway to the home's lower level were also built into the area, as seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, Too.
