Season 1, Episode 2

Sacrifices for City Living

Kelly and Lorn bought this bungalow nine years ago when they were expecting their first child and needed a house, any house, to call home. But to get all of the lifestyle benefits of living in the city, some compromises had to be made. Using their basement as a rental suite provided the much needed income, but took up nearly half their available square footage. It worked for a while, but now that they have two kids, they don't have nearly enough space, even with the basement not being rented. Fed up with their close quarters and challenging floor plan, Kelly and Lorn have called in some serious help: designer Jillian and realtor Todd. Jillian and her team will complete a major redesign to transform this troubled house into a functional family home. Todd will show them that the solution to their problems can be found in a new home. When it's all said and done, Kelly and Lorn will have to decided: will they love it or list it?
