Twin Threat

Get ready home renovation enthusiasts, and mark your calendars for Wednesday nights at 11p|10c. HGTV’s popular series Listed Sisters is about to enter its second season, and our favorite set of twins (well, one of our favorites), Lex and Alana, have some great TV in store.

Hosts Lex and Alana LeBlanc do research on a device that was found in the attic and when that device detects fire it releases material that could be extremely harmful, as seen on Listed Sisters.

Real estate pro Alana and interior designer Lex have the perfect combined skill set for navigating one of the country’s most exciting and trickiest real estate markets – Nashville, Tenn. Their forte: tracking down and isolating homes with true potential — that fit within their clients’ budgets — then transforming them into the perfect abode, be it starter residence or forever dream home.

“Nashville’s real estate market is booming,” says Alana. “Amazing parks, beautiful neighborhoods, world-class restaurants and shopping make the city a very desirable place to live.”

“Alana and I have a keen eye for finding homes with lots of hidden potential,” adds Lex. “We love to surprise our clients with the features they never thought they could afford.”

Ideal Complement

Alana's keen knowledge of the Nashville market and intuition for divining her clients' needs and preferences help quickly narrow buyer searches. And just as soon a purchase decision is made, Lex sets the renovation wheels in motion. In addition to formidable design chops, she has an affable, no-nonsense style and a skill for articulating her vision quickly and clearly. It’s then that things start to get interesting.

Rest assured that none of this will get lost once the home buyers get to see the eventual results in the final reveal.

The new 10-episode season will see our dynamic siblings take on even bigger challenges than they did last year, restoring and updating vintage homes, re-envisioning outdated floor plans, dealing with construction challenges and facing tight timelines. But we’ve got a hunch (okay, we’ve seen some of the episodes) that the results will amaze the home buyers and viewers alike with sparkling transformations and distinctive style.

“From Tour Bus to Forever Home”

Take, for example, the project featured in the season premiere. Kurt is a touring musician based in Nashville, a guitarist for a well-known country artist. His girlfriend Emma works in a restaurant in downtown Nashville. Together they’ve been living in a 500-square-foot (!) 1-bedroom condo, and are understandably looking for a change – a cozy home base they can both be excited about.

Hosts Lex and Alana LeBlanc reveal the house to homeowners Kurt Ozan and Emma Parsons for the first time after renovations, as seen on Listed Sisters.

Topping Kurt’s wish list is a first-rate kitchen. Emma longs for a really great master bath. Both would like space for a music room to accommodate Kurt’s large and growing collection of guitars. Maybe throw in a fenced yard in deference to their newly acquired and sizable pup. Their budget, including any and all renovations, is $360,000.

Alana zeroes in on the couple's neighborhood of choice — East Nashville — but, being that that particular area has recently been ranked on of the hottest real-estate markets in the country, the Sisters will have to get pretty creative given the constraints of Kurt and Emma’s budget.

We won’t spoil the surprise of which house they land on, but suffice it to say that it’s one with its share of inherent charm as well as a few aesthetic and logistical challenges.

The end result, after the renovation, is an eye-catching trophy house with what Lex refers to as a “vintage Boho style”.  Clean and crisp on the outside, the transformed home has a colorful and funky vibe within, mixing a palette of hunter green and crisp white with warm wood tones, classic vintage motifs, striking contrasts and some stylized embellishments.

In the words of one road-weary musician, “It’s going to be a great home to come home to.”
