'Home Town' Homeowner Profiles: Amanda Matthews
Home Town host Erin Napier likes to get a little background and personal history on her clients and families before renovation work begins — to help get a feel for the kind of design, features and aesthetic choices that might work best in their home. Here are a few insights provided by client Amanda Matthews, featured in the Home Town episode titled "Porch Dreams".
Erin: Tell us about each person who will be living in this house. What do you love to do? What are you each passionate about?
Amanda:I will be the only one living in the house aside from my four-legged and furry kids (Yorkie, Golden Retriever, cat). I have a love for art, particularly typography and florals. Life passions are calligraphy and hand-lettering as well as building community and having a place that says “welcome home” and “get comfortable!” I just feel so called to love people. And I sense that it will look a lot like hosting dinners and late night front porch conversations. I love music from decades that I can only dream of being a part of. Dolly Parton. The BeeGees. Journey.
Erin: How would you describe your home and personal style?
Amanda: I love comfort pieces and lots of textures. I'm that lady with eight pillows on any given surface in varying patterns, fabrics and colors. I love pieces with history and a story. I really enjoy homes that are asymmetrical in design nature but I'm just not the best at curating the pieces. Blues and greens tend to be my favorite colors and I thrive on natural light. that's why I love the kitchen and the front spaces so much.
