Season 5, Episode 4

New Chapter for Family of Four

After looking at houses for months with no luck, Gayle and Tim Jackson call on Chip and Joanna Gaines to help them find a new place for their family of four. The Jacksons need four bedrooms and three bathrooms that, ideally, can be renovated within their budget of $400,000. Chip and Jo show them three options and, after a successful bid, Jo gets right to work on a design plan that incorporates the family's rustic and coastal style preferences. Meanwhile, Chip has his hands full keeping up with Jo's requests and updating the floor plan to meet the family's needs.

A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Coastal

For this renovation, Joanna and Chip were able to come up with a floor-plan and a decorating scheme that effectively merged elements of two basic styles to create an updated coastal feel with rustic accents. "The goal here," said Chip, "is we want the Jacksons to feel like they're on vacation every single day."
