From Container to Contemporary Home

Can you believe this stylish, contemporary home started as a pile of shipping containers? Tour the entire modern home.

Meet the Homeowner

Homeowner Keith Lasseigne built his new home in Austin, Texas as a getaway from his first home in Houston, as well as a retreat for his foster dogs.

Bright, Modern Living Room

A stainless steel, gas fireplace, wall-mounted television and a bright, light color palette make this living room feel open and airy.

Step Outside

A sliding glass door provides easy access to the home's outdoor spaces, and lets in ample natural light.

A Place to Relax

Homeowner Keith Lasseigne relaxes in his new weekend home crafted from a shipping container.

Open Floor Plan

This open living space includes a bed for weekend guests.

Style-Packed Space

To fit function into this cozy bedroom nook, pendant lights were used to save precious space on the pint-sized nightstands.

Smart Home Features

A Nest thermostat system will help keep energy costs down by learning the homeowner's schedule and adjusting the temperature accordingly.

Office Space

The open living space includes a high counter that can double as a desk.

Open Kitchen

This kitchen has a small footprint, but it makes use of every inch of wall space with floor-to-ceiling cabinetry.

Modern Appliances

Stainless steel appliances match this home's contemporary look.

Modern Security

Adding a Nest Cam to the home's kitchen allows Keith to monitor the property while he's away via his smartphone.

Room for Laundry, Too

The kitchen leads to a pint-sized laundry room.

Room With a View

The stainless steel sink overlooks the patio and outdoor tub.
