Time for an Upgrade

Homeowners Maria Amato and Dennis Gupta love their current home in Valhalla, New York, which is nestled on a quiet street in a prime neighborhood.

Moving on Up

However, three kids later, the couple is starting to feel cramped in their space and are ready to upgrade. But not before Jonathan and Drew step in to make some reno magic.

Living Room, Before

Before the Property Brothers took over, this living room was a standard family space that lacked any sense of personality or pizazz.

Living Room, After

By simply swapping in the right furniture and accessories, like a bright white couch and whimsical curtains, this room was completely transformed into a bright and inviting space.

Living Room, Before

Despite the open floor plan leading to the dining room, the overall living room space felt dim and cramped.

Living Room, After

The addition of bright colors and unique textures makes the room feels much more modern and spacious. And thanks to the lively white and gray graphic area rug and placement of the gray velvet chairs, there's now a clear distinction between the two spaces.

Crystal Clear

This layered glass coffee table offers a surface to display accessories, but the transparent material keeps the room feeling extra open and spacious.

Sitting Modern

A pair of modern gray chairs gives the living room an air of sophistication. And their darker color perfectly balances the bright white of the throw pillows and couch upholstery.

Design Love

Johnathan cuddles up with one of the fluffy white throw pillows found on the side chairs. He's clearly very fond of his pretty redesign.

Sitting Area

What was once a formal dining room has now been transformed into a casual seating area. The Property Brothers kept the furniture, rug and curtains neutral, but added a punch of color with bright orange throw pillows.

Beautifully Balanced

Along with vibrant bursts of color, the sitting room also boasts the same graphic curtains that are found in the living room. Here they cover French doors that lead to the home's back deck.

Bringing the Outside In

On one wall of the sitting area, Johnathan and Drew decided to add an extra pop of life to the space with this lovely trio of wall-mounted air plants.

Creative Corner

This otherwise awkward alcove was transformed into a gorgeous point of visual interest in the space, thanks to a bold bureau, vibrant piece of art and unique accessories.

Outdoor Deck

The Property Brothers transformed the formerly drab outdoor deck into the perfect place for entertaining, fully equipped with a brand new grill and dining table.

Perfectly Plated

The natural wood dining table gets jazzed up with graphic blue placemats and a potted succulent centerpiece.

Colorful Couch

Next to the spacious dining table, the deck features a bold orange couch with complementary blue and white cushions, for additional seating. There’s also extra room for holding festive drinks in the wood coffee table.

Kitchen, Before

The massive island made this kitchen feel cramped and closed off. Plus, the light wood cabinets and bland gray countertops paired with domineering dark chairs didn't make for an aesthetically pleasing design.

Kitchen, After

By painting the cabinets a fresh white and swapping in a smaller island, the Property Brothers made the kitchen feel much larger and open.

Modern Cabinets

The kitchen island doubles as extra storage thanks to these modern gray cabinets with stainless steel hardware.

Idyllic Island

The sleek gray base of this island pairs beautifully with the crisp white marble countertop. Plus the industrial stools give the island and kitchen a cool, modern feel.

Dining Room, After

Once a TV room, the Property Brothers transformed this space into an elegant, modern dining room. They filled it with lovely details like nailhead trimmed dining chairs, a chalkboard menu, and pendant lights that echo the ones found in the kitchen.

Burst of Blue

Bright blue bowls add a touch of vibrant color and visual interest to not only the place settings, but also the overall dining room.

Sleek Storage and Serving

On the other side of the dining room, a mid century modern cabinet doubles as storage and a classy bar area.

Appetite for Design

Drew proudly poses in front of a vibrant abstract painting in the newly renovated dining room.

Bedroom, After

The new bedroom boasts a neutral, pastel color palette, which helps the space seem warm and welcoming.

Sophisticated Bedding

The plush pale blue comforter with matching white and soft gold pillows create a cozy look and feel in the room.

Elegant Desk

The Property Brothers also gave the design a couple doses of function by including a white, contemporary desk that can serve as a workspace or vanity. Turquoise accents and a graphic gold mirror add a pop of color and visual interest.

Bathroom, Before

The blue tub and fully tiled walls in the old bathroom gave off a definite tacky look.

Bathroom, After

By making just a few changes, like replacing the tub and vanity, swapping out the dated tile, and adding some fun artwork, the Property Brothers totally transformed this bathroom.

Happy Couple

After touring all of the renovations, from the living room to the bedroom, Marie and Dennis couldn't be happier with the outcome.
