A TOTAL RENOVATION

Jonathan's must-haves for this renovation: A family-friendly house with lots of amenties. He bought this 2-bedroom, 3-bathroom house for $155,000, and budgeted $60,000 for the renovation. He'll save on labor costs by doing much of the work himself.

LIVING ROOM: BEFORE

A dining area sits just inside the door, while the eye goes straight to the two-story living area in this white-on-white space.

LIVING ROOM: AFTER

Warm colors and rustic accents, along with updated floors, paint and bold accents, make this living room feel cozy and inviting.

STAIRCASE: BEFORE

A white staircase winds to the second floor.

STAIRCASE: AFTER

A brushed steel banister on the new staircase provides a focal point from the living room and the bedrooms above.

LIVING ROOM: BEFORE

A floor-to-ceiling fireplace brings the eye up in this two-story living room.

LIVING ROOM: AFTER

A floor-to-ceiling, white stone tile fireplace surround makes it stand out beautifully from the reclaimed wood walls.

FIREPLACE SHELVING: AFTER

Reclaimed wood creates a rustic backdrop for the built-in shelving surrounding the fireplace.

DINING ROOM: BEFORE

The all-white dining room is adjacent to the front door and the living room.

DINING ROOM: AFTER

Beautiful laminate flooring, overhead lighting and bold bright colors make the formal dining room a great place to entertain.

HALLWAY: BEFORE

Before the renovation, this hallway leading to the kitchen was crumbling and dated.

HALLWAY, AFTER

Paneled doors into the powder room and kitchen lead the eye towards the center of the house.

KITCHEN: AFTER

This dark wood, 4-paneled, frosted glass door, is a nice accent between the kitchen and formal dining room.

KITCHEN: BEFORE

Before the renovation, Jonathan's house had a bare-bones kitchen with badly-installed pre-fab cabinets. Everything must go!

KITCHEN: AFTER

Salvage yards can be a great source for high-end materials at a builder-basic price. Jonathan's designer found a white Carrara marble slab and a mosaic tile backsplash that add style to this space without breaking the budget.

The kitchen penninsula overlooks an eat-in kitchen area.

Dark lower cabinets and light upper cabinets create a unique look while still using store-bought cabinetry.

Jonathan used pre-fab black cabinets and butcher block countertops to create a built-in hutch for the renovated kitchen.

Blue walls and light hardwood floors add personality to the room, and a custom-built banquette adds casual seating.

LAUNDRY ROOM: BEFORE

The utility room in this Las Vegas home had water damage before the renovations by Jonathan Scott.

LAUNDRY ROOM: AFTER

The laundry room now offers high-end utility with a front-loading washer and dryer, marble countertop and a stainless sink.

Recessed shelving above the countertop adds built-in storage.

MASTER BEDROOM: BEFORE

Before the renovation, this second-floor master bedroom had no personality.

MASTER BEDROOM: AFTER

Jonathan transformed this modern home's bedroom into a calming, rustic sanctuary to match the style featured in the rest of the house.

Reclaimed wood barn-style closet doors and a beautiful wide plank laminate flooring are just a few of the great features in the master bedroom.

MASTER BATHROOM: BEFORE

Tired cabinetry and laminate countertops made this bathroom boring and dated before the renovation.

MASTER BEDROOM: AFTER

With room for two and lots of luxurious finishes, this bathroom will set Jonathan's property apart when it hits the market. Floating double vanities keep this room feeling spacious.

MASTER BATHROOM: BEFORE

MASTER BATHROOM: AFTER

Stone countertops, mosaic tile and a paneled door add to the high-end feel of this bathroom.

MASTER BATHROOM: AFTER

Jonathan added a luxurious glass stand-up shower to this renovated bathroom.

The enclosed glass shower features a geometric tile panel on the wall.

SECOND FLOOR LANDING: BEFORE

Before the renovation, this upstairs landing was completely open and featured the home's "signature" white-on-white palette — complete with a dated white railing!

SECOND FLOOR LANDING: AFTER

The beautiful brushed metal railings around the landing at the top of the stairs adds an architectural element, and visually directs the eye down the hallway towards the newly-added third bedroom.

SECOND FLOOR LANDING: BEFORE

Before the renovation, this open area didn't fully-utilize the home's square footage.

SECOND FLOOR LANDING: AFTER

After the renovation, the home now has an enclosed third bedroom, adding to the value and function of the property.

KIDS' BEDROOM: BEFORE

The second floor landing was previously completely open to the living room level.

KIDS' BEDROOM: AFTER

Jonathan tucked this room's bed into a bay window.

This cute child's room is made all the more interesting with the addition a window overlooking the living room and a built-in window seat with storage bins underneath.

GUEST BEDROOM: BEFORE

Before the renovation, the guest bedroom at Jonathan's property had no style or personality.

GUEST BEDROOM: AFTER

A neutral color palette is perked up with colorful bedding and accessories, making this room both fun and buyer-friendly.

EXTERIOR: BEFORE

A pale pink home exterior might look perfect against the Caribbean sand and surf, but it made this home stand out (in a bad way) before the renovation.

EXTERIOR: AFTER

A warm gray exterior hue will appeal to buyers, and adding cream trim allows the home's architectural details to stand out.

COURTYARD: BEFORE

Jonathan's pre-renovation home features a courtyard near the front entrance.

COURTYARD: AFTER

Extending the flooring creates enough room for a sitting area in the courtyard. Mixing large concrete slabs with river rocks and slate tile creates interest underfoot.

Jonathan turned the bare back porch into an outdoor dining area perfect for entertaining. Hanging fabric panels add shade, privacy and color to the space.
