Russ Hemmis

Russ Hemmis, a carpenter on HGTV’s $250,000 Challenge, had a wonderful childhood growing up in Rosamond, Calif., a small desert town north of Los Angeles. A self-taught carpenter, Russ says he is a “jack of all trades” and can handle any job from plumbing and electrical work to drywall, flooring and trim work. For the past five years Russ has been flipping houses in southern California and he and his business partner recently completed the renovation of a four-unit building in Hollywood.

Russ, who also can be seen on HGTV’s 24 Hour Design, says he is looking forward to having more time to enjoy his favorite activity, skydiving.
