Brick Entry and Wall

Curb Appeal : Episode CRB-401 -- More Projects »
Homeowner Lynn Beecroft wants a fence to protect her plants from deer and to define her property from the street. Landscape architect Louise Leff designs a brick and picket fence tall enough to keep out deer, but the brick also ties the fence to the house and creates a unified look.

Leff also adds a brick and gravel walkway providing visitors a clear pathway to the door, while its brick outline ties the entire yard, fence and house together.

Leff continues the transformation of Lynn Beecroft's home by adding plantings and dressing the porch. Leff defines the front yard by cutting back the size of the lawn and adding more planting beds. The area is provided with a final punch of pizzazz by removing Christmas lights, adding green shutters to the windows, putting up new light fixtures and placing pots at the front of the porch. These simple changes result in an attractive garden and front porch.
