Moving Wests

Neutral colors went a long way in transforming the living room. The carpet, couch slipcovers, art and accessories are all new, but the original chairs got to stay.

Contractor Jim Collins and carpenter Nick Ralbovsky built a custom-made countertop to go atop the planter so that it can now be used as a buffet and attractive room divider.

In the master bedroom, the corkboard has been stripped and the walls painted a warm, neutral color. The hardwood flooring beneath the old carpet is exposed, and with new lighting and accessories, the room seems much larger.

The exterior is also much improved. The boat and overgrown bush are gone, and fresh flowers have been planted. There is also a new mailbox and light fixture around the front door to lighten it up a bit.
