This delicious cocktail gets its tang from garden-fresh Meyer lemons.

Whether they’re from your own Meyer lemon tree, or sourced from your local specialty grocer, Meyer lemons are often the go-to citrus for curated cocktail fans. Meyer lemons have a sweeter, less acidic flavor than your standard lemons, making them perfect for desserts and for cocktails like this Uncommon Threads sip — a play on the classic Bee’s Knees cocktail — from mixologist Arianne Fielder, of the Atlanta restaurant Seven Lamps.

Uncommon Threads

Ingredients:

1.5 ounce Aviation Gin
.5 ounce Cocchi Americano
.5 saffron infused honey *
6 drops Meyer lemon oil **

Method:

Add gin, Cocchi, and saffron honey water to mixing glass. Stir with ice and strain into martini glass. Garnish with 6 drops of lemon oil.

*Saffron Honey
Combine 1 cup of boiling water with 1 cup of Savannah Bee Company Tupelo honey. Stir to dissolve. Add 1 teaspoon saffron thread to hot honey water. Stir and let cool and infuse for 3 hours at room temperature. Strain out saffron threads. Store refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

*Meyer lemon oil
Fill a quart sized mason jar with zest of 6 Meyer lemons. Top with extra virgin olive oil, seal jar and allow to infuse for 3 weeks. Use dropper to apply. Store at room temperature.
