Make a Super Easy Planter Birdbath

Welcome feathered friends into your yard with this bird bath that is as useful as it is pretty. Fill the bottom pot with flowers or plants to brighten up your space.

Bathing in Style

Birdies will love splashing about in this stylish birdbath. 

Gathering the Materials

You will need: a large pot/ a medium pot/ a large pot tray/ spray paint/ soil/ trowel/ plants or flowers. Note: The size of the pots may vary. The important thing is that the bottom of the medium pot is small enough to leave approximately 6” of soil all around. The top of the medium pot should fit into the bottom of the tray allowing the tray to overhang by about 2 inches. 

Painting the Pieces

Spray paint all of the pieces with the same color according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow pieces to dry completely before assembling. 

Filling the Pot

Fill the pot with soil to about 1 1/2 - 2 inches from the top. 

Placing the Birdbath Base

Place the medium pot as the base of the birdbath. It should go in the very center of the soil leaving about 6” of soil all around. 

Placing the Birdbath Basin

Add the tray to the top of the medium pot to use as the birdbath basin. Center it on the top of the medium pot. Most trays have a recessed middle on the bottom which should fit nicely over the rim of the medium pot. 

Adding the Plants

Add plants or flowers or you choice to the ring of soil around the medium pot. Lightly pack in place with soil and water as needed. 

Adding the Water

Fill the basin with water. Use a level, if necessary, and gently press the basin and medium pot into the soil as needed to level the basin. 

A Colorful Addition

This much fun color is bound to bring the birds around. Place your birdbath near a window to get a view of the lovely flowers and perhaps a little splashing.
