Eliminating the Blow Dryer
Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-1028 -- More Projects »
Stylist Tina Cassaday demonstrates how to create a good hair day without using a blow dryer, which dries out the hair and stresses the cuticle.

Straight hair needs volumizing at the roots for this updated look.
|
|
Straight Hair
- Condition hair before shampooing, so the conditioner won't weight down your hair as it dries.
- If you use a part, dry hair the opposite way you usually part it, then flip it over and comb in place at the last minute.
- Using a spray volumizer, lift up chunks of hair all around the head and spray at the roots.
- Finish the ends with a little hair wax to make the style look "piece-y" and modern.

Leaving wavy hair in a ponytail and bun while it dries helps tame the waves.
|
|
Wavy Hair
- Condition hair before shampooing.
- Put wet hair in a ponytail, using a scrunchy or covered rubber band. Twist hair around the rubber band to make a bund and secure with bobby pins. Leave up until the hair is dry (this will help control the waves).
- Undo the hair and apply a volumizing or control mousse to the hair, working it in moving down the hair cuticle.

Naturally curly hair needs a leave-in conditioner to keep it under control.
|
|
Curly Hair
- Condition hair before shampooing.
- Work a leave-in conditioner through wet hair.
- Next, towel dry wet hair using two towels to remove the maximum amount of moisture.
- Add more conditioner, working it all the way to the ends.
- Now, apply a leave-in serum that helps the hair to shine.
