Use the computer to download interesting clip art for decorating your home. Home-decor expert Brian Kramer explains how easy it is to do.

Clip art from the computer and iron-on transfer paper were used to create this delicate design. This one is perfect for the hem of sheets.

Cut patterns out of transfer paper very close to the edge of the design so that the white doesn't transfer to the fabric along with the design.

The iron-on transfer was attached to a ribbon first and then the ribbon was stuck to the lampshade with spray adhesive.
Borders

Materials:

transfer paper for ink-jet printers
clip-art border from a website

Steps:

  1. Print the clip-art border onto the transfer paper. If you don't have one at home, a copy store will have a color printer you can use for this project.

  2. Cut out the design, leaving a little bit of white all around the design.

  3. To apply the design to sheets, lay the design on the sheet and cover it with a piece of cloth so you are not ironing directly onto paper. Use the highest setting on the iron and press for 45 to 60 seconds (check directions with your transfer sheets). Be sure you work on a hard surface when ironing so the transfer is complete.

  4. For best results, apply designs to cotton, which you have washed beforehand. To wash, turn inside out and use the gentle cycle and gentle detergent.

This vintage-look pillow was treated with coffee stain and then a monogram printed onto transfer paper was applied to the center.
Monogram Pillow

Materials:

pillow
coffee
water
spray bottle
computer clip art

Steps:

  1. Mix a coffee stain of one part water/one part coffee and put into a spray bottle.

  2. Design your monogram using your computer and print it up in mirror image on the transfer paper (so when you turn it over to iron it on, it will read from left to right).
