Before: One Big Mess
Jackie and Kevin Mayfield moved into their home two years ago. With six children there aren't enough bedrooms to go around, so brothers 13-year-old Khristian and 8-year-old Kyle share a converted bedroom in the basement. They also share everything from bunk beds to a crammed closet, but that's about to change — or so they hope.Professional organizer Janet Taylor steps in to help, along with interior designer Deana Murphy. Here's what they are up against:
The closet is so jam packed, it's a wonder they can find anything!
Sorting and emptying out the space is the first order of business. Movers were hired to take out the old furniture, including that bunk bed, and bring in some new pieces. After that task is complete, Murphy comes in to help figure out how to better maximize this space.
Each boy wants to have his own working space and sleeping area, in addition to a designated area in the closet. They also want to brighten up the dull white walls and show off a little of their personalities.
