Offbeat America
Easter Island House and More
Episode HOBA-510

All About
This episode begins back in the Civil War era, as we meet a Tennessee couple who lives in a 19th-century home with some disguised modern technology. Then we "hang 10" at an offbeat Hawaiian house that has sturdy silk curtains hanging from the 20-foot ceiling for local dance troupes to use for practice. Next it's off to Missouri to see how a couple uses corrugated metal in some creative ways. From there we head to New York, where one man's backyard is filled with hundreds of carved stone faces that look like they're straight from Easter Island. Finally, we get straight to the point when we visit a man in northern California who has filled his house with his pointillistic paintings.
