New Spaces
To bring some of the amenities of city living to her secluded country home, Kay Hytjan wants to transform her unused basement into a relaxing and fun Tuscan retreat. With impressive stonework and a curved cave-like feel, the highlight is a wine cellar and wet bar with a special hidden door. The space also features a home theater, gaming area and exercise room, but from mold discovery to an expanding budget, the project encounters several stumbling blocks.
