John Parker's lakeside home has an outdoor shower that looks like a great white shark, constructed of steel and wire mesh, with a fiberglass skin. Alix and Len Breuder's former sausage factory is now a home studio, with a kitchen that has stone countertops and laminated glass inserts lit from below by neon. Lisa Wence and Dan Partin remodeled their kitchen with salvaged materials, creating a backsplash from aluminum discarded from a trailer truck and a kitchen island made from a discarded work table and granite slab. Painter Val M. Cox turned a 19th century wagon shop into a work studio and living space, creating wall coverings from corrugate fiberglass and a chain hanging system for his paintings. Kathy and Neill Fox converted a stark addition into a game room that will lure their friends to the house.
