Band: Los Angeles Unified School District Honor Band (#61)
Location: Los Angeles, California

This year marks the Los Angeles Honor Band's 34th consecutive appearance in the Rose Parade. The band was formed in 1972 to represent the Los Angeles Unified School District in the Tournament of Roses Parade. The All District Honor Band is unique in its ability to assemble 350 students from throughout the school district in approximately 16 rehearsals. The students work extremely hard to learn the All District Music in addition to their school music, learn a different marching style and give their holiday vacation time to make the All District Honor Band one of the best bands in the parade.

Directed by Anthony L. White and Art Duardo, the Los Angeles Unified School District Honor Band plays music arranged by Dr. Ken Dye, the director of bands at Notre Dame University, to represent the theme of the Rose Parade.

Band: Mercer Island High School Marching Band (#44)
Location: Mercer Island, Washington

Mercer Island is located seven miles from downtown Seattle, in the middle of beautiful Lake Washington. The Mercer Island High School Marching Band commissioned a piece by Emmy-award-winning film composer Hummie Mann. This will be the band's second Rose Parade appearance.

Mercer Island High School was identified as a Grammy Signature School for Excellence in 1999 and 2003. One of every five students is involved in the proudly noncompetitive band program. Director Parker Bixby and co-director Peter Haberman lead the 270-member band, which includes three drum majors, 100 brass, 22 percussion, 153 woodwinds and two banner carriers.

Band: Mt. Carmel Marching Sundevils (#98)
Location: San Diego, California

Mt. Carmel's music program was recognized by the Grammy Association as one of the top three high school music programs in the United States. The Marching Sundevils have won numerous Sweepstakes awards at band competitions throughout Southern California, including the prestigious Arcadia Tournament of Bands. The Mt. Carmel music program has enabled their students to travel and perform worldwide, including in London, Scotland, Australia, Scandinavia, Germany and Hawaii.

Led by Garry McPherson, the marching band has 280 total members: three leaders, one drum major, 90 brass, 50 flag bearers, 20 percussion, 110 woodwinds and 10 banner carriers. Mt. Carmel performed in the 1984 and 2000 Rose Parades.

Band: Pasadena City College Herald Trumpets (#50)
Location: Pasadena, California

The Pasadena City College Herald Trumpets have participated in the Rose Parade for many years. They traditionally precede the Queen's float, heralding the Rose Queen and her court throughout the parade. The Herald Trumpets have performed for various events this past year including the announcement of the Royal Court, the announcement of the Rose Queen, the Pasadena Jaycee's Queen's breakfast, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Bandfest and a special concert for the Good Sam Club at their "Rose Parade Jamboree" at Disneyland.

The Herald Trumpets are selected from the finest players of the Pasadena City College Marching Band and Pasadena Tournament of Roses Honor Band. Directed by Kevin Brown, the nine trumpeters are accompanied by a drummer.

Band: Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band (#21)

The Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Band (originally the Pasadena Junior College Bulldog Band) first marched in the Rose Parade in 1930 and has continued to perform in the parade for 77 consecutive years. The band has also performed for many Tournament of Roses Association events such as press conferences, the queen and court announcements and Bandfest since becoming the official Tournament of Roses Band in 1930. The band also performed in the 2004 and 2005 Shanghai Tourism Festival Opening Day Parades in China representing the Tournament of Roses.
