Light up a party with colorful, easy-to-make pepper luminaries.
If you've been blessed with a bounty of bell peppers, host Rebecca Kolls offers a great idea that will take you beyond cooking. She shows how to make adorable luminaries that are great for any picnic--colorful carved peppers with tea candles burning inside.

Obviously you need peppers, and you do have to be picky about picking your peppers. It's important to find a stable one that will not topple over with a candle inside! Next, make a design on the pepper. You can draw one freehand or you can buy different stencils at any craft store and then copy the pattern onto the pepper. Use a fine-point marker or pen to create your design.

Use an knife to cut out your creation. Just follow the lines with the tip of the knife. Once you've carved out the entire stencil, use the knife to cut off the top of the pepper and pull out all of the seeds. Then, very carefully, pop out the stencil design.

So that's as simple as it gets. Just clean up the edges, add a candle and you have a darling luminary ready for your table.
