Patchy Lawn Makeover: From Wasteland to Colorful Backyard

Robin and Sandy's backyard has lots of old plants. Landscape designer Kat Weiss creates a useable and stylish yard for the family. They install a flagstone patio, rustic arbor and a bird sanctuary to create a rustic space where they relax.

Three matching habitats in differing height are designed to fit everyone's needs. The tallest is a vegetable garden for Robin and Sandy; the middle is a sandbox for the baby and the shortest acts as a borough for the tortoise. A spiral fountain made from boulders and soil is placed on the path and provides relaxing sounds to the space. Sturdy grasses and durable plants complete the new look.
