Hide CaptionShow CaptionThe elegant inlaid pattern on the table in the designer room is made from semi-precious stones and hard stones.
Michelle purchased small square pre-cut tiles in a variety of colors to match the designer original. Cement board is adhered to a hollow-core door for the palette. The geometric pattern for the table is first arranged on large brown paper, and then carbon paper is used to transfer the design onto the cement board. Once the pattern is completely laid out the tiles are adhered to the cement board. The last steps are grouting the tiles and applying a coat of sealant to protect the mosaic.

The two cement pillars were found at a statuary store to use for the table bases; they are a bit more ornate then the ones in the designer room but they add just the right touch of drama.
