BeforeJordan and Elizabeth Cohen have enjoyed living in their wonderfully rustic home for 10 years. The interior has been carefully crafted into a cozy, lodge-like environment; the backyard, however, has been completely neglected. They want the aged, green concrete patio replaced but want the brick retaining wall incorporated into the new scheme.
The Cohens meet with each designer to share their tastes, wants and needs. Landscape designers Deborah Fox and Karine Freligh suggest three different living spaces, including a redwood deck that leads up to a gazebo-covered spa. Landscape designer Tom Scoble's arts and crafts archway frames a colorful ceramic fountain. Landscape designer Larry Cleveland proposes a unique hillside focal point that features a tea tree surrounded by granite boulders.
