BEFORE

Before the planting can begin, this space must be cleared out.

AFTER

Now that the weeds have been pulled out, it will be easier to get the planting started.

Tip: As you weed, be careful with dried seed heads like these. They're full of viable seeds that can be redeposited right back into the bed as you pull.

Tip: Virtually any plant with a square stem (such as this chocolate mint) is potentially invasive, meaning it will spread and take over your garden. It's best to keep plants like these in pots.
